About the Role
We are looking for a reliable, compassionate, and safety-conscious NEMT Wheelchair Van Attendant to join our team in Oklahoma. In this role, you will provide essential Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) to passengers with mobility challenges, ensuring they arrive at their medical appointments, therapy sessions, and personal destinations safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities
- Safe Transportation: Safely operate a specialized wheelchair-accessible vehicle following all Oklahoma traffic laws and company safety protocols.
- Passenger Assistance: Assist passengers during boarding, loading, securing, and unloading, using hydraulic lifts or ramps and four-point wheelchair tie-down systems (Q’Straint/Sure-Lok).
- Door-to-Door Service: Provide door-through-door assistance for patients needing help walking or maneuvering their wheelchairs.
- Vehicle Inspection: Perform pre-shift and post-shift vehicle checks (fuel levels, tire pressure, lift operation, safety equipment) and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Schedule & Communication: Maintain punctual pickup and drop-off times using GPS and dispatch communication, while adjusting smoothly to schedule adjustments.
- Documentation: Complete accurate daily shift logs, trip sheets, and incident reports as required by state NEMT standards.
Minimum Qualifications & Hiring Requirements
- Age: Must be at least 21 years old (for vehicle insurance compliance).
- Driver’s License: Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with a clean driving record (no major violations or excessive points).
- Screening: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and a drug screening.
- Availability: Available Monday through Friday.
- Physical Capabilities:
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs independently.
- Ability to push, pull, and maneuver up to 150 lbs (e.g., occupied manual wheelchairs on ramps or uneven ground).
- Comfortable bending, kneeling, stooping, and standing for extended periods to secure wheelchair tie-downs.
- Mindset: Strong commitment to customer service, empathy for elderly and disabled individuals, and a willingness to learn company safety processes.
Certification Requirements
- AHA CPR Certification: Must possess a current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR card (or obtain one within 30 days of hire date).
- NIMS Training: Must successfully complete required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 15 days of hire date (training guidance provided upon hire).
