The Staff Accountant supports the preparation and maintenance of statutory financial reporting in accordance with NAIC guidelines and applicable state insurance regulations. This role assists with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing expertise in insurance statutory accounting.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.

Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.

Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.

Assist with Annual Statements, Quarterly Statements, and supplemental filings.

Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for statutory reporting.

Collaborate with accounting, actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Support external audits and regulatory examinations by providing requested documentation.

Assist with internal control documentation and process improvements.

Participate in special projects and other accounting duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

2+ years of accounting experience; insurance or statutory accounting experience preferred.

Basic understanding of accounting principles.

Experience with statutory accounting or insurance accounting is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience within the property & casualty insurance industry.

Familiarity with Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) and NAIC reporting.

Experience with insurance accounting software such as GAIN, OneSumX, AQS, or similar.

CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required.
