Wright Printing Co. DBA Relevant Packaging is hiring for an Aerator/Baler in our Die Cutting department. This position will support operators on our overnight shift by performing various tasks including jogging stacks of paperboard sheets to prepare them for job runs, operating forklift and baler equipment to compress and bind recyclable paper and corrugated materials, and operating a box truck to move palletized materials from our warehouse to our main plant. They will work safely and efficiently to ensure smooth workflow for production while upholding the company’s exceptional service and quality standards. Pallet jacks and forklifts will be used daily.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Load paper stock into aerator equipment and operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Drive box truck in a safe manner to transport goods between warehouse and plant.
- Load and unload materials for transport.
- Operate, maintain and troubleshoot baler equipment, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
- Retrieve, empty and return waste carts and bins from production areas.
- Feed materials into the baler.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed.
- Inspect bales for quality and consistency.
- Remove bales from the baler and load them safely and securely onto trailer, adhering to vendor requirements.
- Maintain organization of the baler room, dock and materials to optimize efficiency and safety.
- Assist in die cutting as required, covering operator breaks and providing production support.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed.
- Follow all SQF and safety practices.
- Maintain good housekeeping.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Utilize schedule to ensure materials are ready for production.
- Utilize pallet jack to distribute paper stock to proper location.
- Watch for quality issues in the paper and notify lead or manager of any issues.
Requirements include but not limited to:
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Prior manufacturing experience a plus.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Exhibits excellent attendance.
- Must possess current driver's license with clean driving record and ability to pass DOT medical certification.
- Able to safely operate up to 26' box truck.
- Able to operate forklift.
- Able to operate pallet jacks, both electric and manual.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Able to communicate effectively with management and team members.
- Able to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships in a culturally diverse environment.
- Self-motivated and focused on scheduler and management supplied instructions.
- Shows a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities.
- Ability to read and understand a job ticket in English, both printed and on the computer system.
- Able to read a ruler, understand measurements, and do basic math accurately.
- Able to operate and navigate computer systems to document production times and notes.
- Can differentiate colors.
- Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors repetitively throughout a shift: standing, walking, handling, reaching horizontally and grasping firmly (up to 12 hour shifts).
- Must be able to perform the following physical behaviors frequently throughout a shift: reaching above the shoulder, reaching below the waist, pushing buttons, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling and pushing (up to 12 hour shifts).
- Production positions require the ability to safely lift up to 50lbs, 20+ feet in distance.
- Able to withstand exposure to loud noises, machinery and varying temperatures.
- Vision correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test).
- Willing to work in other departments or handle unique duties as needed.
- Availability for overtime as needed.
