Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and styling according to breed standards and customer preferences
- Handle dogs safely and confidently using proper animal restraint techniques to ensure comfort and security during grooming procedures
- Assess each dog’s coat condition, skin health, and temperament to tailor grooming plans accordingly
- Maintain cleanliness of grooming tools, work area, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about grooming needs, special instructions, and aftercare recommendations
- Assist with pet handling and training as needed to facilitate grooming sessions and improve overall pet behavior
Skills
- Proven experience in pet grooming with a strong understanding of different coat types and breed-specific styles
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal handling skills to ensure safe interactions
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is a plus for understanding animal health indicators during grooming
- Familiarity with animal restraint methods and pet care best practices for stress-free grooming sessions
- Ability to lift heavy pets safely and perform physically demanding tasks with energy and enthusiasm
- Excellent customer service skills to build trust with pet owners and address their concerns professionally
- Strong animal handling abilities combined with patience, compassion, and attention to detail
