JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a haul driver, you will operate a heavy diesel truck hauling rock, sand, and gravel for large jobs. Due to the weight of the load and size of the truck, the driver must possess a CDL and have safe driving knowledge and good driving skills. This position is Non-Exempt.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip truck inspections.
- Walk around the area before taking the load on the road.
- Monitor truck and company equipment to ensure proper operation and professional appearance.
- Maneuver truck into loading position for unloading positions at the delivery locations.
- Clean truck after each delivery to keep the truck in good, clean condition.
- Complete delivery paperwork and keep records of daily activities.
- Operate equipment, such as haul truck controls, CB radios, GPS equipment to exchange necessary information with dispatch, supervisors, or other drivers.
- Report any issues with truck and keep maintenance up to date.
- Haul drivers must get the load weighed after loader loads truck to get a gross weight. Haul truck cannot exceed 80,000 pounds.
- Follow all applicable state and federal regulations.
- Must be willing to cross train in a mixer truck.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a Class A CDL.
- Must have updated medical card.
- Must be able to follow directions on the tickets.
- Responsible for checking your truck for safety issues, turning, moving forward, stopping and backing up.
- Must have good communication skills, active listening, good judgement, and decision making.
- Must have navigation and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, self-starter.
- Reliability, dependability, honesty, and integrity is a must.
