Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong oral health.
- Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency and patient comfort.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance with HIPAA regulations, and proper recordkeeping within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Monitor vital signs before procedures, recognize signs of medical emergencies, and respond appropriately.
- Maintain a sterile environment by following infection control standards and ensuring all dental instruments are properly sterilized.
- Support the dental team with chairside assisting, including handling dental terminology and assisting with general dentistry procedures.
- Document treatment notes accurately, review documentation for completeness, and assist with medical coding as needed.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials.
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic or dental office environment with knowledge of dental assisting procedures.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and record management.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles if working with pediatric patients; experience in pediatrics is a plus.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks efficiently while maintaining excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Experience with vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and basic medical terminology is highly desirable.

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
