Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Caregiver to provide exceptional support and assistance to children and individuals with special needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in child development, caregiving, and activity planning, with a focus on fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. As a Caregiver, you will play a vital role in promoting growth, safety, and well-being through attentive supervision and tailored care.
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10am-2pm
Duties
- Provide supervision and oversight to ensure the Veteran's safety throughout the respite visit.
- Offer temporary relief to the primary caregiver by assuming caregiving responsibilities during scheduled respite hours.
- Assist the Veteran with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, including personal care, mobility, toileting, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Assist with Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) as appropriate, such as light housekeeping related to the Veteran's care, meal preparation, and other non-medical support tasks.
- Engage the Veteran in meaningful social interaction, conversation, and companionship based on the Veteran's interests, preferences, and abilities.
- Remain in close proximity to the Veteran while respecting their comfort level and personal preferences.
- Observe and report any changes in the Veteran's physical condition, behavior, or safety concerns to the agency according to company policy.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment while following the Veteran's individualized care plan.
- Document services provided and communicate any significant observations or concerns to the office promptly.
- Adhere to all agency policies, client rights, confidentiality requirements, and non-medical scope of practice.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children across different age groups, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary school-age children.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in mandated reporting laws is preferred.
- Strong communication skills for effective parent interaction and team collaboration.
- Ability to plan engaging activities tailored to children's developmental stages.
- Prior experience in daycare settings, babysitting, nannying, or youth programs teaching is advantageous.
- Demonstrated skills in behavior management and creating nurturing environments that promote growth.
