Health Promotion Associate/BBO-C Non-Nurse Navigator
The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Health Promotion Associate/BBO-C Non-Nurse Navigator. This position reports directly to the WIC/BBO-C Coordinator. Ideal candidates have excellent communication skills, is detail oriented, organized and possesses an interest in improving the health in our community.
Responsibilities

Screens clients for program eligibility, schedules appointments, greets and assists clients, answers telephones, and is able to provide a variety of information for clients.

Prepares routine materials which may include reports, correspondence, word processing, data entry and billing spreadsheets.

Conducts outreach to at risk populations and service providers to promote WIC and BBO-C programs and initiatives.

Performs routine, standard vision and/or screening tests on children in order to identify children needing further follow up for possible impairments.

Provides health education, communicates screening results, and assists individuals with referrals and resources to support their health goals.

Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Requirements

Requires a minimum of an Associate degree or equivalent demonstrated experience working with maternal and child health programs.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, or English and Arabic preferred.

Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.

Ability to problem solve and be part of the team.
- Ability to be flexible and establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Requires successful completion of training programs approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health leading to certification in vision and hearing screening.
- Requires successful completion of training programs approved by the WIC and BBO-C programs.

Requires late clinic hours until 7pm, 1-2 times per month.
