Controller
Reports To: Director of Operations
Position Summary
Taylor Energy is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Controller to oversee the company's accounting and financial operations. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, managing cash flow, and providing timely financial information to leadership to support sound business decisions.
This is a hands-on position for an individual who enjoys improving processes, strengthening internal controls, and contributing to the continued success of a growing family-owned business.
Primary Responsibilities
Financial Management
- Oversee all accounting functions, including:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Payroll
- Fixed Assets
- Inventory Accounting
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
- Analyze monthly financial performance and explain budget-to-actual variances.
- Present financial reports and recommendations to ownership.
Cash Flow Management
- Manage daily cash flow and company liquidity.
- Forecast short- and long-term cash requirements.
- Maintain banking relationships.
- Monitor debt obligations and financing arrangements.
- Optimize working capital to support business operations.
Accounting & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls.
- Assist with the annual CPA review or audit.
- Prepare year-end financial schedules and supporting documentation.
- Manage sales tax filings and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local financial regulations.
Operational Support
- Process and review weekly payroll for submission to the Director of Operations and the company's payroll provider.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain financial reporting dashboards and key performance reports.
- Assist ownership and department managers with pricing analysis and financial decision-making.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain and optimize the company's ERP and accounting software.
- Improve financial reporting capabilities through automation and enhanced reporting tools.
- Lead accounting process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with software integrations and system enhancements.
- Strengthen financial controls through improved procedures and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in a Controller or senior accounting role preferred.
- Experience in HVAC, construction, fuel delivery, propane, or other service-based industries is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, cash management, payroll, and internal controls.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software, Sage Intacct a plus and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with ownership and department leaders.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
