Position Summary
A Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support in healthcare settings such as physician offices, clinics, urgent care centers, and specialty practices. The Medical Assistant helps ensure efficient patient care, accurate recordkeeping, and smooth daily operations while complying with Michigan healthcare regulations and employer policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
- Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations and treatments.
- Provide samples to patients as authorized by the supervising provider and employer policies.
- Process medication refills.
- Reconcile patient medications.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
- Conduct electrocardiograms (EKGs), blood pressure and other clinical tasks as trained.
- Collaborate with the clinical team and leadership team to ensure a smooth workflow and exceptional patient care.
- Maintain examination rooms, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Have or develop knowledge of common cardiac medications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain electronic health records (EHR) and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Process patient forms, medical records requests, and correspondence.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1 year Medical Assistant experience required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of Intermediate Microsoft Suite skills required.
- Minimum of 40 words per minute required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Reports To: Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, or Office Manager

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to perform clinical procedures.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
