Overview:
Earth Power is seeking a contractor to perform drilling and installation for our growing business installing ground source heat pumps. No experience is necessary. The contract could lead to full time employment should business conditions continue to evolve positively.
The technician will work in several aspects of a young green energy company installing residential geothermal heat pumps including:
- Drilling and installing ground loops
- Heat Pump Installation
- Startup and Commissioning
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented technician to join our team. As a technician, you will work as part of a team who do everything from design and feasibility to system startup. Training will be provided - no experience necessary.
Qualifications:
- Willingness and ability to work with hands in the field
- Problem solving skills
- Can lift up to 50 lbs
- Interested in helping create solutions to counter climate change
Primary Responsibilities:
- Site Work including drilling, excavation and trenching, cleaning and pipe fusion
- Operating small drilling equipment and pumps
- Calculating proportions for batch mixing of solutions on site
- Record keeping of drilling and installation activities
This position is located on the Northside of Chicago (primarily Albany Park, Lincoln Square, Wrigleyville, North Center, Wicker Park, Roscoe Village and surrounding neighborhoods) and surrounding suburbs. Must have transportation to get to various sites. Some design work and process development work will be done remotely. Training will be provided.
This is a great opportunity for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit to learn the ins and outs of the residential geothermal industry from theory to practice. And most importantly you can be part of the solution to climate change by helping install systems that dramatically reduce the carbon footprint for home heating and cooling.
No specific experience is required.
