Position Overview
A patient-centered outpatient cardiology practice is seeking an experienced cardiac sonographer to provide coverage every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during September 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
After September, the successful candidate may remain with the practice for ongoing as-needed per-diem coverage, with the potential to transition into a consistent part-time position.
This position focuses on adult transthoracic echocardiography and exercise stress-echo imaging. Vascular ultrasound is not required.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete adult transthoracic echocardiograms
- Obtain high-quality resting and immediate post-exercise stress-echo images
- Perform accurate measurements and prepare preliminary technical worksheets
- Prepare patients and place ECG electrodes
- Assist with treadmill equipment and protocol-based technical functions
- Monitor image and tracing quality during testing
- Immediately escalate symptoms, abnormal vital signs, arrhythmias, or concerning ECG findings
- Document completed testing accurately in the electronic medical record
- Maintain clean, properly functioning ultrasound and stress-testing equipment
- Follow practice protocols, infection-control standards, and patient-safety procedures
- Provide a professional, reassuring, and patient-centered experience
A qualified physician or other legally authorized practitioner provides clinical supervision of exercise stress testing and makes all clinical decisions regarding patient eligibility, test initiation, modification, termination, interpretation, and emergency management.
Required Qualifications
- Active ARDMS RDCS–AE or CCI RCS credential
- Current BLS certification
- At least two years of recent adult echocardiography experience
- Proficiency in complete adult transthoracic echocardiography
- Experience obtaining resting and post-exercise stress-echo images
- Familiarity with ECG electrode placement and treadmill stress-testing workflow
- Ability to recognize and promptly escalate concerning symptoms, vital signs, ECG findings, and imaging findings
- Strong communication, documentation, and patient-care skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with the supervising physician and clinical team
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of adult cardiac sonography experience
- Recent outpatient cardiology experience
- Experience managing a busy testing schedule
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and digital echo-reporting systems
Compensation and Opportunity
