Job Summary
Provides leadership and oversight of all nursing services within the Congregate Living Health Facility. Responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, clinical operations, care planning, infection prevention, quality improvement, and coordination with physicians and interdisciplinary team members. Oversees nursing staff scheduling, education, competency, documentation, medication management, and implementation of facility policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations and applicable federal and state laws.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee all nursing services and clinical operations.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate licensed nursing staff and nursing assistants.
- Ensure compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations and facility policies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and procedures.
- Coordinate resident admissions, assessments, care planning, and discharges.
- Monitor the quality of resident care and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Conduct clinical audits to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
- Oversee medication management and medication safety practices.
- Ensure physician orders are accurately implemented and followed.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary care with physicians, respiratory therapists, social services, rehabilitation, dietary, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain appropriate nurse staffing levels and prepare work schedules.
- Recruit, orient, train, and evaluate nursing personnel.
- Ensure staff competency through ongoing education and annual skills validation.
- Oversee infection prevention and control programs.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, complaints, and unusual occurrences, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in performance improvement and risk management activities.
- Monitor resident assessments, care plans, and nursing documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure emergency preparedness and nursing response to resident emergencies.
- Participate in regulatory surveys and develop plans of correction when required.
- Monitor clinical supplies and equipment to ensure adequate availability and proper maintenance.
- Review laboratory, diagnostic, and consultant reports and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Collaborate with administration regarding budgeting, staffing, and operational planning.
- Serve as the primary nursing liaison with physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure resident rights, dignity, privacy, and safety are maintained at all times.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and evidence-based nursing practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
Requirements
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience, including supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of California CLHF regulations and Title 22 requirements.
- Experience with medically complex residents preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR).
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Ability to pass required background clearances, TB screening, and health requirements.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Pay: $124,000.00 - $134,000.00 per year
