American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU night shift position requiring 2 years of current critical care experience and prior travel assignment history.

Work in the Medical ICU (MICU) of a cancer hospital and research center
-
Care for adult and geriatric patients with oncologic emergencies, COPD, pneumonia, ARDS, GI bleeds, neuromuscular disease, drug overdose, oncologic treatment complications, pulmonary hypertension, autoimmune disorders, and sepsis

Manage hemodynamically compromised patients requiring mechanical ventilation, pulmonary artery catheter placement, CRRT, arterial pressure monitoring, cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, central venous catheters, chemotherapy administration, clinical trials, and plasmapheresis

Perform or assist with bronchoscopy and endoscopy procedures for patients with underlying pulmonary and GI conditions

Patient ratio of 1:2

13-week contract on night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30

Rotating D/N schedule possible, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs

Epic EMR experience required

Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Minimum 2 years of current MICU/critical care experience, consistently worked within the last 12 months

Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered

Epic charting system experience required

Skills required: IV starts, ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction management, and IV insulin protocols

Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program

2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted

Provide critical care nursing to complex, hemodynamically unstable ICU patients including oncology-related emergencies

Complete Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon signing contract due to strict compliance timelines
-
Candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location promptly after booking; those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet

RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less

Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate

Former employees of the facility are eligible for travel assignments only after 6 months away from the facility

Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at any of its Ohio hospital locations
