The Role
This is a traveling Heavy Equipment Operator position with a self-performing commercial general contractor building multifamily student housing across the Southeast. You'll be responsible for operating excavators, skid steers, forklifts, and trenching equipment on active concrete and site work projects, moving between job sites every 6–8 months as the work progresses.
This is not a short-term gig. You'll be placed on a project through completion with advance notice of your next move, a full travel package, and a team that holds a higher standard of professionalism than most.

Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Operations
- Operate excavators, skid steers, forklifts, and trenching equipment on commercial construction sites
- Support concrete pours and related site work in a self-perform environment
- Maintain and inspect equipment daily to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Follow site safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
Travel & Site Coordination
- Rotate between project locations every 6–8 months (current pipeline: Athens, GA → Auburn, AL → Clemson, SC)
- Coordinate with site superintendents and crew leads to keep operations sequenced and on schedule
- Represent the company professionally on every job site. This crew takes pride in how they show up.
Who We're Looking For
- 2+ years of hands-on experience operating excavators, skid steers, forklifts, or trenching equipment on commercial job sites
- Experience working with concrete in a construction environment
- Comfortable with a traveling lifestyle. Hotel-based work weeks are part of the role, so you need to be comfortable spending extended periods away from home.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus

- Able to safely operate multiple equipment types and adapt quickly on a busy site
- Professional, reliable, and coachable. This team holds a higher bar than most.
- Strong situational awareness and commitment to job site safety
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision once on-site
- Willing to travel regionally for 6–8 month project stretches
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $25–$35/hour depending on experience
- Hotel accommodations and $55/day per diem when working 100+ miles from home address
- Travel time paid, including Sunday night drive time to the job site
- Benefits are eligible after 60 days of employment
- Bonus program launching in 2027
