Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Controller to lead our financial oversight within the construction division. This pivotal role involves managing all accounting functions related to construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing accurate financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Duties
- Oversee all aspects of construction project accounting, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and accounts payable/receivable processes.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements relevant to construction and governmental projects.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to optimize project profitability and resource allocation.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and regulatory filings, providing clear insights for senior management.
- Conduct thorough balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to maintain accurate financial records across multiple software platforms such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, and other financial management tools.
- Implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate double-entry bookkeeping practices.
- Collaborate with project managers and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure transparency in financial reporting.
- Lead efforts in payroll processing, expense tracking, and regulatory reporting specific to construction projects.
Experience
- Proven experience in construction accounting or financial management within the construction industry is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards including GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and governmental accounting practices.
- Hands-on experience with financial software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar platforms is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in cash management, account reconciliation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting principles and public sector financial regulations is a plus.
- Excellent understanding of technical accounting concepts such as debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data accurately and communicate findings effectively through comprehensive report writing. Pay: $75,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
