Duties
- Operate heavy-duty tow trucks and wrecker equipment to recover disabled or damaged vehicles efficiently and safely.
- Secure vehicles using cargo securement protocols, including straps, chains, and other tie-down methods.
- Load and unload vehicles onto flatbeds or other transport platforms with precision and care.
- Perform basic automotive diagnostics and repairs when necessary to facilitate vehicle recovery or minor fixes on-site.
- Follow all safety procedures related to vehicle mechanics, cargo securement, and traffic management during recovery operations.
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and team members to coordinate recovery efforts promptly.
- Maintain detailed logs of all recoveries, inspections, and repairs performed during each shift.
Skills
- Proven experience operating tow trucks, flatbeds, or similar heavy recovery equipment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform automotive diagnostics and minor repairs.
- Familiarity with manual transmissions and vehicle mechanics for truck drivers.
- Knowledge of cargo securement protocols to ensure safe transportation of recovered vehicles.
- Excellent driving skills with a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred; experience in commercial driving is essential.
- Ability to handle conflict management professionally when dealing with distressed customers or challenging situations.
- Experience with forklift operation is a plus for loading/unloading equipment or vehicles in storage yards.
- Strong customer service skills to provide professional assistance during roadside incidents.
