American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with general surgery and multi-specialty OR experience for a 13-week day shift assignment at an acute care hospital in Columbia, SC.

304-bed acute care hospital OR setting with 9 operating rooms
-
Day shift schedule, 4x10-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM)

13-week contract

Floating between service lines within the facility is required; floating to sister facilities is not required
-
On-call requirement of 1 weekday call shift per week and 2–3 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule

Weekend requirement of 2–3 weekends per 6-week schedule

Epic EMR (preferred)
-
Minimum 1 year of experience as a CST with substantial general surgery experience
-
Experience with Ortho, Neuro, Ophthalmology (Eyes), and Robotics is required
-
BLS certification (AHA only); NBSTSA certification required — NCCT is not accepted

License required if applicable

SSN and Driver's License required for consideration

2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Radiation badge required — must be provided by the traveler's agency prior to start

Trauma Level I experience preferred

Teaching hospital experience preferred

Epic EMR experience preferred

First-time travelers are accepted for this position

Previous permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler

Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, and local candidates are considered on a case-by-case basis

All RTO must be submitted at the time of consideration; RTO requests after submission will not be approved

Hospital-issued scrubs are provided for the OR

Orientation modules are completed pre-start

Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
-
A wide range of preferred surgical specialties and skills are valued, including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, robotics (Da Vinci Xi), ENT, bariatrics, thoracic, transplant, and endoscopic procedures
