Position Summary
The Branch Manager is responsible for leading branch staff, overseeing daily operations, driving branch performance, and creating an exceptional member experience.
This is a working manager role that combines leadership, lending, member service, operations, coaching, and process improvement. The successful candidate must be equally comfortable serving members, developing employees, and building systems that improve organizational performance.
Success in this role means building a branch that operates consistently, develops people effectively, delivers exceptional member experiences, and supports future growth through strong systems and accountability.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop employees through regular feedback, performance management, accountability, and professional development.
- Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, continuous improvement, and leadership growth.
- Build future leaders by developing employee skills, increasing responsibility, and creating growth opportunities.
- Conduct regular team meetings, coaching sessions, and performance reviews.
Operational Leadership & Process Improvement
- Document, maintain, and improve branch procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, compliance, and scalability.
- Develop cross-training programs, workflows, and accountability systems that strengthen branch operations and reduce dependency on individual employees.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvement and implement solutions that enhance productivity, member experience, and branch performance.
- Partner with executive leadership to implement initiatives, recommend process improvements, and support organizational growth.
- Monitor branch performance metrics and take corrective action when necessary.
Member Experience & Business Development
- Ensure every member receives exceptional service that reflects Columbia Credit Union's values.
- Build strong member relationships and identify opportunities to improve members' financial well-being.
- Process and approve loans within established lending authority, and support the branch's loan production goals.
- Coach employees to identify member needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
- Support branch growth through lending, deposits, membership growth, and member engagement.
- Represent Columbia Credit Union positively within the community and with business partners and stakeholders.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure branch operations comply with Columbia Credit Union policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Stay current on regulatory and operational requirements and communicate updates effectively to staff.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding member information and credit union business matters.
- Keep executive management informed of branch performance, activities, and significant issues.
- Manage branch staffing schedules, timecards, leave requests, and labor utilization.
- Attend management meetings, training opportunities, community events, and occasional overnight travel as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong lending knowledge and ability to process and approve loans within established limits.
- Demonstrated success leading teams, developing employees, and improving operational performance.
- Experience creating, documenting, and implementing processes and procedures.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to move initiatives from concept to execution.
- Ability to analyze operations, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Proven ability to establish accountability, coach performance, and drive results while maintaining a positive culture.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-through and execution.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Preferred Experience
- Experience leading operational improvements, process redesign, or organizational change initiatives.
- Experience creating documented procedures, workflows, training materials, or cross-training programs.
- Experience building accountability systems, performance standards, and employee development programs.
- Experience developing future leaders and building high-performing teams.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
