Overnight Shift Requirements:
Monday through Wednesday 11pm- 8am & Sunday 8pm- 8am
Tuesday, Thursday 11pm-8am & Saturdays 8pm-8am
This position is also responsible for providing hands-on assistance, instruction, and guidance, while implementing individuals’ plans, goals, and objectives to attain independence and integration in the community. The role includes participating in being on-call, responding as needed to support individuals, ensure continuity of care, and address emergent staffing or program needs. Direct Support Professionals first allegiance is to the person you support. All other activities and functions you perform flow from this allegiance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Direct supervision and implementation of ISP goals for a group of individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
-Assistance and training individuals on Activities of Daily Living/Independent Living Skills
-Provides hands-on assistance to individuals in order to complete daily activities
-Provides a positive and upbeat environment for individuals to flourish in their daily activities
-Maintains daily documentation in compliance with all licensing agencies
-Provides Transportation and supervision on community outings
-Applicant may be required to provide morning and evening Transportation for program participants
-Must assist individuals with self-care (i.e. toileting, hygiene, feeding) as needed
-Assist individual’s with ADL’s
-Provides individual support and encouragement
-Advocate for Individual’s rights
-Strong verbal and written communication
-Demonstrate time management
-Medication Administration
-Meal preparation and storage
-Teach compensatory strategies within community setting
-Communicates effectively with individuals, staff, and community partners
-Maintains documentation in compliance with all licensing agencies
-Performs assigned maintenance and cleaning tasks
-Performs crisis intervention as needed
-Transport individuals as needed
-Serve as the primary on-call contact for any urgent operational or staffing issues after hours.
-Identify and assign a trusted backup contact to ensure coverage during personal leave or emergencies.
-Ensure clear communication and documentation for all on-call matters.
-Support team members during emergencies, behavioral incidents, or staffing shortages, ensuring calm and professional handling.
-Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
Prior Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a MUST
High School Diploma or GED Required.
Strong verbal and written communication is a MUST
Candidate with experience writing therapeutic daily notes and documentation PREFERRED
Medication Management Certification Preferred
CPR and First Aid Certification
Therapeutic Options of Virginia (TOVA) Behavior Management Training preferred.
Must have a valid Virginia's driver's license and good Driving Record
Must be deemed eligible for employment based on the outcome of both a FBI criminal background investigation check and a central registry check
Proof of automobile insurance
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Virginia’s driver’s license
- CPR and First Aide certified
- Medication Administration Certification
- Behavior Management Certification
- Successful Child Protective Services Check
- Successful completion of a Comprehensive Criminal Background and Central Registry Check
- Other trainings and certifications may be required
