We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Hotel Maintenance Technician to join our team at Best Western Plus First Coast Inn & Suites in Yulee, FL. This position is responsible for keeping our guest rooms, common areas, equipment, and property in excellent working condition.
The right candidate is someone who takes pride in their work, can troubleshoot problems independently, and understands that hotel maintenance requires both preventative maintenance and responding quickly when unexpected issues arise.
Responsibilities
- Perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel
- Troubleshoot and repair basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical issues
- Perform preventative maintenance on guest rooms and hotel equipment
- Diagnose and address guest room maintenance issues efficiently
- Repair or replace fixtures, faucets, toilets, lighting, outlets, hardware, and other building components
- Perform basic painting, patching, caulking, and drywall repairs
- Assist with HVAC/PTAC maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting
- Maintain the pool and pool equipment, including routine cleaning and water chemistry checks
- Inspect the property regularly and identify maintenance needs before they become larger problems
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from the front desk and management
- Maintain organized maintenance areas, tools, parts, and supplies
- Assist with exterior property upkeep and other projects as needed
- Follow hotel safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment
- Document completed preventative maintenance and repairs
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance, facilities, construction, handyman, or similar experience preferred
- Hotel maintenance experience is a plus, but not required for a candidate with strong general maintenance skills
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building repairs
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine practical solutions
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Dependable, punctual, and responsive
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional and respectful when working around guests and other team members
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working indoors and outdoors
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the property rather than simply waiting for a work order. Preventative maintenance, attention to detail, reliability, and identifying problems early are important parts of this position.
