About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist to join our Culinary Unit. While this role involves culinary training and oversight, we are primarily looking for candidates with experience working with individuals living with severe mental illness. The right candidate will receive additional culinary-specific training to support members in developing skills related to kitchen operations.
This position requires a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate the Clubhouse van to transport members as needed. Additionally, a Level II Background Check is required.
Key Responsibilities:
As part of the Culinary Unit, you will:
- Support members with severe mental illness in developing work-related and life skills.
- Work alongside members to facilitate cooking and food preparation in an industrial-style kitchen.
- Ensure compliance with all proper sanitation protocols and food safety regulations.
- Teach and reinforce kitchen safety and hygiene best practices.
- Manage inventory, restocking, and organization in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Plan menus that align with the Clubhouse’s needs and resources.
- Conduct grocery shopping and cost analysis.
- Assist in operating the Key Café Snack Bar.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with individuals with severe mental illness (1 year required).
- Experience working in a commercial kitchen (1 year required).
- Knowledge of proper sanitation protocols and food safety standards (Required).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (Required).
- Ability to drive the Clubhouse van and transport members safely.
- Ability to pass a Level II Background Check (Required).
- An associate degree is required, Bachelors degree preferred.
