Our classrooms are intentionally small, allowing students to receive personalized instruction while building confidence, independence, executive functioning, communication, and social-emotional skills.
Position Summary
LINKS is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and collaborative Credentialed Special Education Teacher to lead an elementary classroom serving students with moderate to severe disabilities. The successful candidate will provide individualized academic instruction while working alongside educational therapists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, ABA professionals, and support staff to create meaningful learning experiences for every student.
Schedule
- Part-time position (28 hours per week)
- School year runs August 15 through June 15
- Monday–Friday school schedule
- School holidays and breaks observed according to the LINKS academic calendar
- Additional paid planning and collaboration time built into the weekly schedule
Optional Additional Hours
Teachers may elect to increase their weekly income by providing Educational Therapy services before or after school or during designated intervention times. These optional hours are compensated separately and provide flexibility for candidates seeking additional income.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, individualized instruction aligned with each student’s educational goals.
- Differentiate instruction using evidence-based practices for students with moderate to severe disabilities.
- Foster communication, executive functioning, adaptive skills, social-emotional development, and independence.
- Implement positive behavior supports and proactive classroom management strategies.
- Utilize visual supports, AAC systems, sensory accommodations, and assistive technology as appropriate.
- Collect student data and monitor progress toward academic and functional goals.
- Collaborate with educational therapists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, and families.
- Supervise and collaborate with instructional aides.
- Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications
Required
- Valid California Education Specialist Credential
- Experience working with elementary students with moderate to severe disabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Positive behavior support experience
- Passion for neurodiverse education
Preferred
- Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Experience with AAC devices and assistive technology
- Knowledge of ABA principles
- Training in Structured Teaching, Executive Functioning supports, Social Thinking®, or similar evidence-based interventions
