Overview
We are seeking dedicated and highly skilled Travel Nurse in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) working 3x12's. This vital role involves providing specialized nursing care to critically ill patients with cardiovascular conditions, including those requiring advanced life support and complex interventions. Duties
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the cardiovascular intensive care unit, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators and IV infusions.
- Perform detailed patient assessments, including physical examinations, physiological evaluations, and diagnostic evaluations such as cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic and Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities, medical records, and clinical data.
- Implement aseptic techniques during invasive procedures such as suturing, catheterization, and specimen collection to prevent infections.
- Manage complex medical equipment including ventilators, infusion pumps, and telemetry monitoring devices to ensure optimal patient stability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies for patients with chronic cardiovascular or critical illnesses.
- Conduct patient education on medication administration, pain management strategies, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies while ensuring high standards of infection control and safety protocols.
- Assist in triage assessments for incoming critical patients and coordinate emergency responses during trauma or acute events.
- Support ongoing staff training in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), basic life support (BLS), and other critical care procedures.
Experience
- Minimum of three years of ICU experience with a focus on cardiovascular or critical care nursing within a hospital setting.
- Proven expertise working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in advanced cardiac procedures including cardiac catheterization, ostomy care, and ventilator management.
- Experience working in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of pharmacology related to cardiology treatments including botulinum toxin therapy or hospice & palliative medicine is advantageous.
- Familiarity with infection control standards, laboratory experience, specimen processing, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining patient safety.
- Strong understanding of physiology knowledge related to cardiovascular health, trauma medicine, infectious disease care, geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), and acute pain management.
- Prior experience working with diverse populations including individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges enhances the ability to provide inclusive patient care.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalent is required; additional certifications in trauma medicine or ICU-specific training are preferred.

Pay: $2,400.00 - $2,750.00 per week
