Qualifications:

Employment as a teacher preferred, but only required for certain positions.

Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the tasks listed.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: Principal or Athletic Director
Job Goal: To help student athletes focus on and value academics first with athletics second. Each participating student can achieve a high level of skill, and appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, and an increased level of self-esteem.
Performance Responsibilities:

Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.

Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.

Works closely with the athletics director in scheduling inter-scholastic contests.

Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate after inventory and inspection is complete.

Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.

Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in inter-scholastic competition in his sport.

Enforces disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and established and oversees penalties for breach of standards by individual students.
Terms of Employment: Compensation and duration of coaching season to be established by the Board.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
