Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Lumberyard Professional Salesperson to join our team. This role involves assisting customers with their lumber and building material needs, providing expert advice, generating sales, counter sales, and ensuring a positive customer experience. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the construction or home improvement industry, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping customers find the right solutions for their projects.
Responsibilities:
- Providing exceptional customer service and building strong customer relationships.
- Assisting customers in-person, over the phone, and via email with product inquiries and order placement.
- Utilizing product knowledge to recommend appropriate lumber and building materials for various projects.
- Preparing accurate and timely sales quotes and estimates.
- Processing sales orders and coordinating with other departments for order fulfillment.
- Following up with customers to ensure satisfaction and generate repeat business.
- Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor and product displays.
- Staying up-to-date on product knowledge, industry trends, and pricing.
- Achieving sales targets and contributing to the overall success of the sales team.
- Assisting with inventory management and stock checks as needed.
- Operating basic computer systems for order entry, quoting, and inventory look-up.
- Adhering to all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in the construction or home improvement industry (e.g., contractor, builder, supplier).
- Previous retail sales experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of lumber, building materials, and construction processes.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to understand customer needs and provide effective solutions.
- Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to navigate software for order entry, quoting, and email.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations for pricing and measurements.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Compensation:
Salary is Dependent on Experience (D.O.E.).
