Position Summary
The Assembly Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting daily assembly operations by ensuring product quality, improving productivity, maintaining production records, and developing team members. This position plays a key role in identifying and eliminating quality issues through root cause analysis, implementing corrective actions, monitoring production performance, and ensuring compliance with standard work procedures.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesQuality Management
- Investigate assembly defects using structured problem-solving methodologies, including 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams, and other root cause analysis tools.
- Analyze production defects to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
- Record, monitor, and manage daily defect quantities and quality trends.
- Prepare detailed Corrective Action Reports (CARs) and recurrence prevention plans.
- Verify the effectiveness of implemented corrective and preventive actions through follow-up audits and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Production departments to resolve quality concerns and improve manufacturing processes.
- Participate in customer and internal quality investigations as required.
Productivity & Process Improvement
- Monitor assembly line performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Evaluate operator assembly skills and provide coaching to improve performance.
- Verify compliance with Standard Work Instructions through Layered Process Audits (LPA).
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
- Support production goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Training & Workforce Development
- Coordinate and manage operator training activities.
- Maintain and update the departmental Skill Matrix to ensure adequate cross-training and workforce flexibility.
- Identify training needs and develop action plans to improve employee competency.
- Mentor team leaders and operators on quality standards, assembly procedures, and continuous improvement practices.
Production Administration
- Prepare and maintain daily production reports, quality reports, and shop floor documentation.
- Ensure accurate production records are completed and submitted on time.
- Monitor attendance, manpower allocation, and production performance metrics.
- Assist in production planning and daily scheduling activities.
- Maintain documentation supporting ISO, IATF, customer, and company quality requirements.
Leadership
- Assist the Assembly Manager with daily department operations and personnel supervision.
- Promote a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
- Support company policies and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, engineers, and production personnel.
- Lead by example in professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing or assembly operations.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the production floor.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving equipment.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
This position is essential to ensuring that assembly operations consistently meet company, customer, and quality standards while driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and employee development.
Pay: $74,000.00 per year
