House Director Position
Seeking a substitute House Director for our Sigma chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for the fall 2026 semester. Our current House Director needs to step away from her position for the semester, and plans to return for spring semester..
The House Director position requires the individual to reside in the chapter house and spend each evening at the house. The House Director will work in a cooperative manner with the sorority members who reside in the house and ensure a safe, comfortable and pleasant living environment. The candidate must have successful leadership and management experience and possess the ability to work with and communicate effectively with college-age students.
General Job Description:
The House Director must be accessible and approachable and possess a calm demeanor. She must be comfortable working closely with collegiate members, alumnae volunteers, and /property manager/vendors/contractors. The House Director must understand the need for discretion and maintaining confidentiality. Attention to detail and careful record-keeping are also important attributes. In addition to the specific duties detailed below, the House Director shall perform such other job duties as assigned by the chapter or house corporation, from time to time.
This position offers a salary, dedicated House Director living space and meals; House Director vacation periods coincide with UW-Madison breaks, during which periods she may be away from the facility.
Specific Duties:
Facilitate adherence to all chapter house rules and policies
- Be present and available to the chapter and its members in a personable and professional manner
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the house including coordinating and communicating effectively with vendors, property manager, food service provider, house corporation board and collegiate members
- Act as representative and attend events at the chapter house whenever asked
- Coordinate with the chapter to ensure support of chapter operations and activities
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in education, social sciences, human resources, hospitality, or related field
- A minimum of two years matriculation from an undergraduate degree
- Possess a valid driver’s license and personal automobile with valid insurance
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel; Gmail, Google Docs & Sheets
- Must be physically active and able to perform normal physical functions, including climbing stairs, lifting, bending, and stretching.
