About Us
Mt Vernon TV & Appliance has been a family-owned, locally trusted name serving Mattoon and the surrounding communities since 1981. For over 40 years we've helped local families find the right appliances, mattresses, TVs, and electronics for their homes — and we're looking for an experienced, motivated salesperson to join our Mattoon showroom team.
What You'll Do
- Greet customers on the sales floor and guide them through appliance, furniture, mattress, and electronics purchases
- Build rapport with customers to understand their needs, budget, and timeline
- Maintain up-to-date product knowledge across major brands (including Speed Queen, and other appliance, furniture, and electronics lines we carry)
- Meet with customers both in-showroom and by phone/email to follow up on leads and quotes
- Process sales transactions, financing applications, and delivery scheduling accurately
- Maintain an organized, well-merchandised sales floor
- Stay current on active promotions, rebates, and financing offers so you can speak to them confidently
- Take advantage of manufacturer spiffs and incentive programs offered on top of your regular commission
- Meet individual and team sales goals
What We're Looking For
- Prior retail or sales experience required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills — comfortable initiating conversations with customers
- Basic computer skills (point-of-sale systems, email, financing software)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work a full-time schedule, including some weekends
- Goal-oriented with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Ability to stand/walk the sales floor for extended periods
Schedule
Full-time, including regular weekend availability (specific days/hours to be discussed during interview)
