Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality rice suitable for onigiri, ensuring optimal texture and flavor.
- Shape rice balls with precision, maintaining consistent size and appearance according to established standards.
- Fill onigiri with various ingredients such as seasoned fish, vegetables, or other fillings, following safety and quality protocols.
- Wrap onigiri with nori (seaweed) and package them attractively for sale or distribution.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
- Operate kitchen equipment including rice cookers, knives, hand tools, and other fabrication tools safely and efficiently.
- Assist in inventory management by handling materials carefully and accurately recording usage.
Requirements
- Passion for Japanese cuisine and food craftsmanship with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience in food preparation or manufacturing environments is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks with precision.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and portioning rice accurately.
- Familiarity with hand tools, measurement instruments like calipers or micrometers is a plus for quality control processes.
- Mechanical knowledge or experience operating industrial kitchen equipment such as rice cookers or packaging machines is advantageous.
- Strong commitment to cleanliness, safety standards, and food hygiene practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
