General Description of Position
Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Campus Stores, the Part-Time Campus Store Manager provides operational leadership for the Milford Campus Store and ensures the effective delivery of retail services to the campus community. The position supports the College’s academic mission by maintaining a relevant, high-quality selection of products and services that meet the needs of students, faculty, staff, and visitors at competitive prices.
The Part-Time Campus Store Manager is responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the store, including sales, purchasing, receiving, stocking, inventory control, merchandising, order fulfillment, and customer service. Given the size and scope of the operation, the position is expected to work independently during scheduled hours, exercising sound judgment and seeking guidance from the Director of Campus Stores on matters requiring additional direction or approval.
This part-time regular position implements established policies and procedures, maintains efficient, reliable store operations, supports fiscal responsibility, and contributes to a positive customer experience. The position provides a highly visible campus service that directly supports student and employee success and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the College’s campus store operations.
Essential Functions
- Manage day-to-day Campus Store operations under the direction of the Director of Campus Stores, ensuring efficient, reliable, and customer-focused service during scheduled hours and in accordance with established College policies and procedures.
- Monitor and support the financial operations of the Campus Store, including sales analysis, purchasing, cash handling, financial recordkeeping, and preparation of daily, monthly, and year-end sales and financial reports. Support budget planning and fiscal accountability within established guidelines.
- Coordinate the selection, procurement, and availability of required tool kits for instructional programs, ensuring appropriate quantities, accurate pricing, and timely availability for student purchase each academic term.
- Manage purchasing and inventory planning for general merchandise, including apparel, food items, technology, accessories, school supplies, gifts, and other products, based on customer needs, sales trends, available resources, and established purchasing guidelines.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors and sales representatives to support competitive pricing, appropriate product selection, product availability, and timely resolution of purchasing and fulfillment issues.
- Coordinate receiving, inventory control, merchandising, and product presentation, including receiving shipments, pricing, stocking, displays, inventory tracking and reconciliation, and coordination of the annual physical inventory process.
- Oversee online order processing and fulfillment to ensure order accuracy, timely processing, appropriate communication with customers, and consistent service standards.
- Coordinate textbook buyback activities, including preparation for and execution of end-of-semester buyback operations in accordance with established College procedures and vendor requirements.
- Supervise and support Campus Store employees in accordance with College policies and procedures, including participating in recruitment and selection, onboarding and training, scheduling, performance management, and other personnel activities as assigned or delegated. Promote a supportive, accountable, and collaborative work environment.
- Manage and maintain point-of-sale (POS), inventory control, and other store systems, ensuring accurate transactions, reliable records, effective inventory tracking, and efficient daily operations. Operate and support store technology and equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, calculators, labeling systems, and related retail equipment.
- Implement established operational procedures and pricing practices and provide recommendations to the Director regarding merchandise selection, pricing, margins, inventory levels, operational efficiency, and opportunities to improve sales and financial performance.
- Maintain current knowledge of retail operations, textbook and merchandise management, merchandising practices, customer service, technology, and industry trends and apply relevant practices to improve Campus Store operations and the customer experience.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, vendors, and other members of the campus community, providing responsive, professional, and high-quality customer service.

Schedule
Normal hours of work for this part-time regular position are generally scheduled by the College between 7:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Fridays, based on a 29-hour workweek and a 260-day work calendar. Scheduled special activities, emergencies, or temporary schedule changes may require hours outside of the regular workday or workweek.
