We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Surgical Scrub Technician to join our dynamic surgical team. In this vital role, you will assist during ophthalmic surgeries by preparing the sterile field, passing instruments, and ensuring adherence to infection control protocols. Your expertise will support smooth surgical procedures, enhance patient safety, and uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique in our busy surgery center.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all surgical supplies are ready for procedures
- Maintain a sterile environment by following strict aseptic techniques and infection control procedures
- Assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and other necessary supplies during surgeries
- Monitor vital signs and patient status in collaboration with the surgical team to ensure patient safety throughout procedures
- Collect and document data such as patient information, surgical details, and intraoperative observations accurately in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support preoperative and postoperative patient care activities as directed by the surgical team
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and infection prevention protocols
Experience
Previous OR experience in hospital medicine, ambulatory surgery centers, or similar settings required. Certified scrub technician preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and infection control practices essential for effective support during surgeries
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems required
- Demonstrated ability to perform suturing and basic life support (BLS) skills preferred
- Strong analysis skills for monitoring vital signs and recognizing abnormal patient responses during procedures
