JOB SUMMARY
The Structural Engineer is responsible for designing and supervising various construction projects, including airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, and roads. This role provides technical expertise, supports the engineering process, and contributes to the successful completion of projects by analyzing requirements, preparing designs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Structural Engineer also manages the development of complex designs, conducts field inspections, and mentors junior staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Support and Project Contribution: Provides technical support throughout the engineering process, contributing to the design, analysis, and completion of structural engineering projects. Ensures that designs meet technical and regulatory requirements.
- Project Analysis and Calculations: Performs standard and complex technical calculations related to project requirements, ensuring that designs are feasible and compliant with engineering standards and safety regulations.
- Field Inspections and Infrastructure Assessment: Inspects structures in the field to ensure they meet project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory compliance. Identifies potential issues and recommends corrective actions.
- Drafting and Design Preparation: Utilizes computer-aided drafting (CAD) software and other tools to prepare detailed technical drawings and design plans. Manages AutoCAD 3D models to ensure accurate representation of the project and compliance with industry standards.
- Design Review and Collaboration: Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure compliance with established specifications, industry standards, and codes. Collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs.
- Advanced Technical Application and Design Management: Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of complex structural designs. Oversees the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Material Testing and Data Collection: Reviews designs, tests and assesses materials, and performs necessary data collection and calculations in areas such as traffic forecasting, soil capacity, groundwater analysis, and structural integrity.
- Cost Estimation and Project Planning: Prepares cost estimates and project plans based on technical requirements. Assists in developing project budgets and schedules to ensure cost-effective and timely project execution.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Mentors junior technical staff, providing guidance and knowledge to help develop their engineering capabilities. Promotes knowledge sharing and ensures that less experienced engineers understand project requirements and best practices.
- Technical Reporting and Documentation: Prepares technical reports, design packages, and project specifications. Ensures that all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with industry regulations and client expectations.
- Quality Control and Compliance: Ensures that all designs are code-compliant and adhere to safety regulations and industry standards. Conducts quality control checks throughout the project lifecycle to maintain accuracy and reliability.
- Resource Planning and Management: Supports resource planning to ensure that project teams have the necessary tools, materials, and personnel to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION
- Professional Engineer License (SE) required
