Responsibilities
- Provide attentive personal care assistance, including helping with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, recognizing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Assist with medication administration following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding as necessary.
- Support clients with mobility using proper patient transfer methods and equipment such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Offer companionship and emotional support, fostering positive communication and engagement to enhance overall well-being.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or in senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and emergency response procedures including CPR and first aid certification.
- Familiarity with specialized care for residents with memory care needs or hospice requirements; experience working with autism or developmental disabilities is highly valued.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting when necessary for patient transfers or mobility assistance.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA standards.
- Flexibility to work during daytime hours on a consistent schedule; a compassionate attitude combined with proactive problem-solving skills is essential for success in this role.
