Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Calling all committed Sign Language Interpreters! Two excellent contract opportunities are available serving students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in schools near Grayslake, IL for the 2026-2027 academic year. Work alongside dedicated education professionals and make a positive impact on students’ educational journeys. Both positions are full-time (35 hours/week), onsite only.
Available Assignments:
High School (Grades 9-12):
- Location: Grayslake area
- School Year: August 10, 2026, to May 20, 2027
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm
- Caseload: 12 students total; interpreting between 1-3 students per class
Elementary-Middle School (Kindergarten-8th):
- Location: Vernon Hills area
- School Year: August 17, 2026, to May 28, 2027
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:15am–3:45pm
- Caseload: 30 students total; interpreting between 1-5 students per class
Key Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required; please provide proof)
- Demonstrated skill in American Sign Language and provision of interpreting services in educational settings
- Previous experience supporting children and adolescents in schools a plus
- Commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and teamwork
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver interpreting services for classroom instruction, school activities, and one-on-one or small group support
- Work closely with teachers, staff, and related service providers to promote access and inclusion
- Maintain accurate records of services provided
- Ensure ethical standards and confidentiality at all times
