Certified Veterinary Technician / Experienced Veterinary Assistant
Just Animals Veterinary Clinic is looking for an experienced, motivated, and confident Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team!
We are a small, fast-paced veterinary clinic where everyone works closely together, helps each other out, and most importantly gets along great. Veterinary medicine can be chaotic, and we are looking for someone who can jump into that chaos with us, stay calm under pressure, work efficiently, and still have a good attitude at the end of the day.
Experience in a veterinary clinical setting is required. We are looking for someone who is confident in their technical skills and can work independently while also being a strong team player.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a very hands-on position with a wide variety of responsibilities, including:
- Performing dental cleanings and dental radiographs
- Assisting with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Anesthesia monitoring during high-volume spay/neuter days
- Assisting with lumpectomies and various orthopedic procedures
- Placing and maintaining IV catheters
- Obtaining and running in-house blood and urine samples
- Performing and confidently interpreting ear and skin cytologies
- Taking quality diagnostic radiographs
- Obtaining accurate patient histories, temperatures, weights, and vital signs
- Providing excellent client communication and education
- Discussing vaccine protocols and helping determine the vaccines most appropriate for each pet's lifestyle and risk factors
- Educating clients about preventive care, including parasite prevention, wellness care, and other recommendations
- Confident and safe animal restraint and handling
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area
- Working efficiently in a high-volume environment while maintaining patient safety and quality of care
- Assisting the doctor and the rest of the team wherever needed
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in veterinary medicine — experience is required
- A Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or an experienced Veterinary Assistant
- Confident performing technical skills without needing constant supervision
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- A dependable team player who is willing to jump in wherever needed
- Able to multitask and prioritize when things get busy
- Someone who can laugh, stay positive, and roll with the inevitable chaos of veterinary medicine!
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to safely lift and carry 40 pounds
- Must be comfortable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and working on your feet for extended periods
- Must be comfortable handling animals of various sizes
- Must have reliable transportation and dependable attendance
Schedule
This position is primarily for half-day afternoon shifts on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays with the potential for full-day shifts on Fridays.
