This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Waste Management Program at 1730 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101. This position is a fast-paced job and has a varied work composition. You’ll work with a diverse group of team members and stakeholders to ensure waste disposal in Missouri meets regulatory requirements for protection of human health and the environment.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Responsible for coordinating with other team members to keep the programs internet pages updated, accurate and 508 compliant.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the program.
- Finalize technically complex environmental permits, certifications, inspection reports, comment and approval letters, and other documents, including but not limited to proofing, reviewing, copying, scanning, mailing, faxing, data entry, and filing for both the Solid Waste and Hazardous Waste Medias.
- Perform scanning, uploading, and quality control of the electronic file room as necessary for staff
- Backup for the secretarial duties for the Solid Waste Advisory Board. Act as liaison between commission and board and the Program Director. Record, transcribe, and distribute meeting summary of each meeting.
- Backup for the Human Resources liaison for the Waste Management Program.

- Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
- Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct, brief, clear, and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.
- Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- 3 to 5 years of general office experience. (Education may substitute for some of the required experience)
