About Our Practice
Rome Oral Surgery & Implant Center is a locally owned oral and maxillofacial surgery practice serving Rome, Floyd County, and the surrounding Northwest Georgia community.

We are looking for a motivated Front Desk Patient Coordinator who wants more than simply a receptionist position—we are looking for someone interested in learning, taking ownership of responsibilities, and potentially growing into a long-term career with our practice.
The selected candidate will initially join our team as an hourly employee. A team member who demonstrates excellent performance, reliability, professionalism, initiative, and leadership potential may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time salaried position with performance-based bonus opportunities as the practice grows.
Position Overview
The Front Desk Patient Coordinator plays an essential role in both the patient experience and the daily operations of our practice.
You will be one of the first people our patients and referring dental offices interact with. The ideal candidate should therefore be warm, compassionate, professional, organized, and comfortable communicating with patients both in person and over the telephone.
This position will initially focus on front-office operations, scheduling, patient communication, referral coordination, insurance verification, and financial coordination.
For a motivated candidate, we are also willing to provide training in dental insurance billing and revenue-cycle management, creating the potential for advancement into a Billing Coordinator or other administrative leadership position.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Warmly greeting patients and families
- Checking patients in and out
- Answering incoming telephone calls promptly and professionally
- Scheduling consultations, surgical procedures, postoperative visits, and emergency appointments
- Maintaining an efficient and productive clinical schedule
- Confirming appointments and following up with patients
- Receiving and processing referrals from general dentists and specialists
- Communicating professionally with referring dental offices
- Obtaining referral forms, radiographs, medical records, and other necessary information
- Entering and maintaining accurate patient demographic and insurance information
- Verifying dental and medical insurance benefits when applicable
- Assisting with insurance preauthorizations and predeterminations
- Preparing treatment estimates
- Discussing financial policies and expected patient portions
- Collecting copays, deductibles, treatment deposits, and outstanding balances
- Maintaining accurate documentation of patient communications
- Scanning and organizing patient records and documents
- Protecting patient confidentiality and following HIPAA requirements
- Working closely with the surgeon, office manager, clinical assistants, and other administrative team members
- Helping maintain an organized, efficient, and welcoming office
- Participating in team meetings, training, and practice-improvement initiatives

Depending upon performance and aptitude, responsibilities may gradually expand to include:
- Dental insurance claim submission
- Electronic claims management

- Reviewing EOBs
- Following up on outstanding insurance claims
- Correcting rejected or denied claims
- Accounts receivable management
- Patient balance follow-up
- Coordination of benefits
- Insurance fee schedules
- PPO insurance processes
- Revenue-cycle management
- Reporting and monitoring outstanding AR

Advancement is performance-based and is not guaranteed after a predetermined period of employment.

Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong written communication skills

- Basic computer proficiency

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
Preferred
- Previous dental or medical front-office experience
- Dental insurance verification experience
- Dental billing or claims experience
- Experience discussing treatment estimates and patient financial responsibility
- Experience scheduling dental or surgical procedures
- Knowledge of dental terminology
- Familiarity with CDT codes
- Experience with dental practice-management software
- Experience in oral surgery or another dental specialty
Previous oral surgery experience is preferred but not required.
