Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

UP TO $5K SIGN ON BONUS for Full-time

Overview

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients regain movement and manage pain following injuries, surgeries, or chronic health conditions. PTAs play a key role in implementing therapeutic treatment plans and supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Key Responsibilities

Treatment Implementation:
- Administer physical therapy treatments and exercises as prescribed by the Physical Therapist.
- Assist patients in performing therapeutic activities (e.g., gait training, stretching, strengthening exercises).
- Operate and monitor equipment like ultrasound machines, electrical stimulation devices, and hot/cold therapy tools.
Patient Monitoring:
- Observe and report patient responses to treatments.
- Record progress and communicate any concerns or changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Modify treatment approaches as instructed to enhance patient outcomes.
Patient Education & Support:
- Educate patients and their families on exercises and activities to do at home.
- Provide motivation and encouragement during therapy sessions.
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and compliance with therapeutic protocols.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient treatments.
- Assist with scheduling and preparing therapy spaces and equipment.
- Comply with facility policies and professional/legal standards.

Qualifications

Education:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
Licensure/Certification:
- State licensure or certification (varies by state).
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow clinical instructions precisely.
- Physical stamina and the ability to assist patients with mobility challenges.

Work Environment

Settings may include:
- Hospitals
- Outpatient clinics
- Skilled nursing facilities
- Rehabilitation centers
- Home health agencies
May involve:
- Prolonged standing or walking
- Lifting or supporting patients during transfers and exercises
