As a Hostess at Family Tree Restaurant you will be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere. You are responsible for greeting customers, managing reservations, seating guests efficiently to provide an excellent dining experience, and taking take-out orders. Your role is crucial in setting the tone for a memorable visit to our family-friendly restaurant.
Key Responsibilities
1. **Greet Guests**:
- Warmly greet all guests as they enter the restaurant.
- Ensure that each guest feels welcome.
2. **Manage Seating Arrangements**:
- Organize seating based on reservations and walk-ins.
- Coordinate with wait staff to ensure tables are appropriately assigned.
- Efficiently manage the seating chart to maximize table turnover.
3. **Handle Reservations**:
- Take and manage reservations via phone or in-person.
- Maintain a detailed log of upcoming reservations and special requests.
4. **Assist with Special Requests**:
- Accommodate guest preferences such as seating choices, special occasions, or large party arrangements.
5. **Provide Information**:
- Answer questions about the menu, daily specials, restaurant services, or nearby attractions.
6. **Support the Team**:
- Communicate effectively with waitstaff, kitchen staff, and management.
- Assist with minor tasks such as clearing tables or providing extra seating during peak times.
7. **Maintain Cleanliness**:
- Ensure the host/hostess stand, entryway, and surrounding areas are tidy.
- Follow safety and cleanliness protocols, especially when interacting with families and children.
8. **Customer Relations**:
- Address any guest concerns or complaints politely and promptly, escalating issues to the manager when necessary

- **Experience**: Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- **Skills**: Excellent communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- **Availability**: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
