Job Description
I. OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Servicing Manager, the Sr. Investor Reporting Specialist works under limited supervision in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment using established reports and spreadsheets to reconcile daily and monthly activity. This position utilizes Harland Servicing Director and is responsible for accounting and reporting tasks related to FNMA and Private Deals.
II. EXPECTATIONS:
- Timely and accurate reporting, remitting, reconciling for assigned monthly investors and service releases on sold loans.
- Creates, updates, maintains and distributes to staff Investor Reporting policies and procedures.
- Continuously reviews processes and procedures and aggressively recommends new ones to management and other departments within the company to improve the quality.
- Strict adherence to the Agency and Private Investor Servicing Agreements, Regulation AB, USAP and other guidelines for timely and accurate reporting, remitting, and reconciling.
- Includes clearing reconciling items within 90 days from the point of identification and reconciling accounts with 30 calendar days.
- Perform bank reconciliation and test of expected cash reconciliation for FNMA and Private Investors.
- Provide periodic reports to investors mentioned above as well as ensure timely remittance of funds due.
- Utilize Harland Servicing Director for reconciliation and reporting.
- Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of various general ledger accounts.
- Research and clear outstanding reconciliation items in bank accounts and GL’s.
- Collaborate with upstream and downstream customers to advocate for sufficient internal controls.
- Identify and lead projects to improve processes.
- Assist corporate accounting with clearing of reconciling items and balancing of various corporate accounts.
- Ensure that all activities are performed in accordance with contractual, compliance and investor guidelines.
- Respond to or route investor inquiries and provide a high level of service in order to maintain a good working relationship.
- Lead efforts to gather necessary documentation for period audits and reviews.
- Recover servicing advances to ensure minimal aging.
- Perform quality reviews on work of others as assigned by management.
- Assist in training new associates.
- Maintains a professional image and adheres to standards consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Handle special projects or other duties as may be required from time to time.
III. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- Minimum of 4 years experience in Investor Reporting or Bank Reconciliations in Mortgage Banking or with college level credit hours in Accounting or a discipline related to the requirements of the position is preferred. Will consider the equivalent combination of job experience & education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
- Other experience would include Fidelity, Microsoft Excel/Access/Word/Powerpoint, and Monarch.
- Knowledge of bank reconciliation process for test of expected cash, pool to security balancing, and clearing account balancing.
- Knowledge of agency forms for custodial reconciliations.
- 4 or more years of Investor Reporting and Bank Reconciliation Experience or related industry experience
