Summary:
The Reading Specialist supprts the design, implementatin, and cntinuus imprvement f evidence-based literacy instructin acrss classrms and schls. This rle centers n ensuring high reading achievement levels fr all students thrugh a Science f Reading-aligned apprach t instructin, interventin, assessment, and prfessinal develpment. The Reading Specialist wrks cllabratively with teachers, administratrs, and district leaders t build sustainable instructinal capacity and advance equitable literacy utcmes.
Essential Duties and Respnsibilities:
Schl/District Based Leadership
Assesses, diagnses, and designs tiered interventins targeting specific student needs in reading and writing, aligned with the Science f Reading (S
- R).
Supprts the implementatin and fidelity f the district's cre literacy curriculum, ensuring alignment with SR-aligned instructi- nal practices.
Cllabrates with district and schl leaders t develp, mnitr, and refine literacy framewrks and impr- vement plans.
Assists and serves n Sch- l Leadership Teams and District Literacy Teams.
Serves as an active member f the Child Study Team, helping t interpret assessment data and recmmend instructinal strategies r interventi- ns.
Builds instructinal capacity by mentring and emp- wering teacher leaders.
Designs and delivers high-quality prfessinal learning experiences independently and in cllabratin with c- lleagues.
Prvides leadership in planning wrkshps and in-service prgrams aligned with district g- als and mandates.
Supprts data-infrmed decisin making fr all student gr- ups, including English learners and students with IEPs.
Mdels and supprts structured literacy instructin grunded in cgnitive science, including phnemic awareness, phnics, fluency, vcabulary, and cmprehensi- n.
Advcates fr the use f high-quality instructinal materials, assessment tls, and interventin prgrams aligned with S- R principles
