As a Patient Care Technician (PCT) on the Medical Ortho Unit at Deaconess Gateway's Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital, you'll be an essential member of a collaborative healthcare team dedicated to helping patients recover, heal, and return to the activities they enjoy most.
This role offers hands-on patient care experience in a specialized orthopedic environment where teamwork, innovation, and exceptional patient outcomes are at the heart of everything we do.
Working alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals, you'll provide direct patient care and support that promotes comfort, safety, and recovery. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting patients with personal care needs such as bathing, oral hygiene, toileting, and linen changes
- Supporting mobility, ambulation, repositioning, and transfers
- Monitoring and documenting vital signs and patient observations
- Recording important information in patient charts
- Providing compassionate care and emotional support to patients and families
- Contributing to a safe, positive, and patient-centered care environment
Your care and encouragement play an important role in helping patients achieve successful recoveries and regain their independence.
The Medical Ortho Unit is a 37-bed department featuring 32 inpatient beds and 5 short-stay beds, located within the state-of-the-art Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital at Deaconess Gateway.
This medical-surgical unit specializes in caring for patients undergoing orthopedic procedures, including hip, knee, and shoulder replacements. Team members have the opportunity to work closely with patients throughout their recovery journey and witness the life-changing impact of successful treatment and rehabilitation.

Required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification within six months of hire
Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
