About the Position:
If you have a passion for people, community, and business to business sales this is the role for you! The right person for this role is a self-starter who enjoys business-to-business sales and embraces long-term relationships.
This role leads the Membership efforts of the Chamber and is responsible for all member recruitment and retention efforts. The right candidate will exude the Chamber’s Core Values, especially Positive Attitude with Contagious Energy. This position is responsible for membership growth through an equally important combination of new member recruitment and retention of existing ones. Key priorities for the role include developing a new member pipeline, systemically engaging with existing members, and embracing technology throughout the sales and retention process. This position provides customer service to our member businesses and is a valuable one-stop-shop for all of their Chamber needs. The position is responsible for the following.
Member Recruitment/Sales (40%)
- Member Recruitment – develop membership recruitment strategies and implement campaigns and processes to build an active sales pipeline to achieve specific monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. This includes a combination of proactive in-person visits, phone outreach, and e-mail communications.
- Intern Management – manages the membership sales internship position.
- Customer Relationship Management System – responsible for managing the CRM’s sales funnel, membership applications, onboarding automations, etc.
Member Retention/Service (40%)
- Member Retention/Service – develop and implement a retention strategy that emphasizes strong working relationships with all current members by promoting programs, services, and sponsorship opportunities. Retention outreach includes specific monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. This includes a combination of proactive in-person visits, phone outreach, and e-mail communications.
- Member Renewals – connect with members by phone and e-mail to complete their renewal and ensure they are getting the most out of their membership.
- Member Benefits – responsible for tracking member benefit utilization.
- Customer Relationship Management System – responsible for membership data portion of the CRM including keeping member contact information up to date and all outreach documented.
Programs & Events (15%)
- Ambassadors – manages the Ambassador committee which is composed of the primary promoters and volunteers of the Chamber.
- Ribbon Cuttings – sells and manages ribbon cutting services.
- Business Before and After Hours – manages the execution of these twice monthly networking events.
- Let’s Do Lunch – manages the execution of these every other month networking events.
Advertising Sales (5%)
- Advertising Sales – strategy and execution of B2B advertising sales to meet budget target.
- Advertising Placements – tracks all placements to ensure required graphics are received and placed.
Education and Experience:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 5+ years of related experience OR Associate’s degree in relevant field and 7+ years of experience.
- Relevant degrees/fields include but are not limited to business administration, non-profit administration, marketing, communications, etc.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience in customer/member sales and retention.
- Experience in customer/member service.
- Proficient in professional networking.
- Experience with customer relationship management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Proficient with time management and prioritization.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of automation flows.
- Ability to take initiative to analyze and solve issues.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to think and execute strategically.
- Positive, can-do attitude towards customer/member service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to travel within McLean County and must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation.
- Ability to work at a desk on a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to lift up to 35lbs.
Pay and Benefits:
- Starting on-target earnings is a competitive $69,000 to $73,000 including a base salary and uncapped commission.
- Performance-based bonus program offered up to 5.5% of annual earnings.

Pay: $69,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
