Position Overview
Global Electric, Inc. is seeking a dependable and experienced Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair company vehicles, equipment, and tools that support our electrical construction operations. This role is responsible for keeping fleet and equipment assets safe, reliable, and job-ready while coordinating with field and office teams to minimize downtime.
Compensation
- Starting Wage: $25 - $35, depends on experience and qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair company vehicles, trailers, tools, and construction equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance, oil changes, brake repairs, tire service, hydraulic repairs, and general mechanical troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, inspection reports, and parts documentation
- Identify safety issues, mechanical defects, and needed repairs; prioritize work to keep equipment operating safely
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance schedules, and equipment availability with operations, project managers, and field supervisors
- Order, track, and organize parts, supplies, and shop materials as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment in accordance with company safety standards
- Perform field service calls or mobile repairs when required
- Assist with DOT inspections, fleet readiness, and compliance-related maintenance tasks
- Communicate repair status, timelines, and equipment concerns clearly with management and team members
- Operate company vehicles and equipment safely when testing, moving, or servicing assets
- Support overall fleet and equipment management needs as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 3+ years as a mechanic, diesel mechanic, fleet mechanic, equipment mechanic, or similar role preferred
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles, trailers, small engines, construction equipment, and/or hydraulic systems
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and complete repairs efficiently
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and repair documentation
- Must provide own basic hand tools; specialty tools may be provided by the company
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy items and work in shop and field environments
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with field and office teams
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required; CDL is a plus
