Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
- Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or eClinicalWorks
- Verify patient insurance details and assist with medical billing and collections, including Medicare and health insurance claims processing
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) with accuracy, ensuring proper documentation review and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Handle phone communications professionally, answering inquiries, confirming appointments, and directing calls appropriately
- Maintain medical records filing systems, ensuring confidentiality and easy retrieval of patient information
- Support clinical staff by reviewing care plans, updating patient information, and assisting with administrative tasks like CPT coding and ICD coding
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office or clinical setting, preferably in a front desk or medical receptionist role
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth or similar platforms
- Familiarity with medical terminology, documentation review, and medical coding including ICD-10/ICD-9/ICD coding and CPT coding
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and 10-key typing skills
- Ability to communicate effectively via phone etiquette and provide exceptional patient service in a bilingual environment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of health insurance processes, Medicare procedures, and healthcare compliance standards like HIPAA
- Prior experience with dental clinics or hospital settings is a plus but not required
- Demonstrated clerical experience including filing, data entry, and managing electronic health records (EHR) management
