Position Summary
Cars Index is a rapidly growing, multi-location pre-owned automotive dealership group. We are seeking a highly sophisticated, data-driven Automotive Controller to oversee the financial operations, cash flow management, and internal controls of our entire network.
Unlike a single-point franchise, this role demands an expert in high-volume inventory velocity, centralized multi-roof accounting, and robust floor plan optimization. The ideal candidate will be a sharp financial strategist who can keep pace with our aggressive buy-and-sell model while ensuring meticulous regulatory and corporate compliance.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Dealership Expertise: Proven experience (5+ years) as an Automotive Controller or Business Manager, with a strong preference for candidates who have managed financial operations for multiple locations simultaneously.
- Systems Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Tier-1 Dealership Management Systems (DMS) such as Dealertrack, CDK, or Reynolds & Reynolds, alongside expert-level Excel capabilities.
- Pre-Owned Financial Literacy: Deep understanding of high-volume used car accounting, including inter-company transfers, multi-state title tracking, and automated inventory evaluation tools.
Executive ResponsibilitiesFinancial Strategy & Multi-Store Reporting
- Consolidated Statements: Prepare, analyze, and present accurate monthly and annual consolidated financial statements for all Cars Index locations.
- P&L Optimization: Partner with store managers to audit expenses, identify operational inefficiencies, and maximize gross profit across all rooftops.
- Audit & Compliance: Serve as the chief point of contact for external auditors, tax professionals, and state banking/regulatory agencies.
Inventory & Treasury Management
- Floor Plan Optimization: Oversee and manage large-scale floor plan lines of credit, ensuring timely payoffs, minimizing interest expense, and handling unit audits efficiently.
- Contracts-in-Transit (CIT): Maintain aggressive oversight of CIT and funding timelines to secure rapid cash flow turnaround from our lending partners.
- Title & DMV Compliance: Ensure the centralized accounting office processes out-of-state titles, lien releases, and wholesale flip-titles with absolute accuracy to prevent retail delivery delays.
dministrative Leadership & Internal Controls
- Centralized Office Management: Supervise, mentor, and build a high-performing centralized accounting team (AP/AR, Payroll, and Title/Registry clerks).
- Internal Auditing: Establish and enforce rigorous internal control policies across all physical locations to safeguard company assets and prevent risk.
