Grady, Hayes & Neary, LLC, a law firm in Waukesha County, Wisconsin seeks an experienced administrative assistant/paralegal to litigation attorneys who specialize in children's law and insurance defense cases. The position is for 30-35 hours per week with flexible hours and requires presence in the office. Duties include maintaining and organizing large volumes of case files; drafting and filing court orders; preparing subpoenas for trials and depositions, preparing, organizing and assisting with trial exhibits; scheduling depositions and conferences and maintaining the attorney's calendar; assistance with trial preparation; obtaining, reviewing and summarizing medical records; contacting directly with clients to provide information and case status; interacting with other attorneys and paralegals; drafting simple correspondence; invoicing; some functions require recording time spent and entry of time into the Firm’s time keeping system; and other similar functions
Responsibilities:
Candidate must be able to work without specific directions and determine when action is necessary. The files and calendar must be maintained accurately so all court and statutory deadlines are met. Most files are paper based with electronic backup and candidate must follow the Firm's system for locating documents, pleadings and correspondence easily and promptly.
Qualifications:
Candidate must have excellent organizational skills and be able to manage all tasks without specific directions; be able to meet deadlines and provide attorneys of upcoming deadlines in advance; must be proficient in verbal and written communication skills in English. Paralegal certificate preferred; some college credits are a plus but significant prior experience with a law firm or legal department is a must.
Compensation:
Pay is between $24.00 and $30.00 per hour depending on experience.
