Position Summary
The Service Manager is responsible for the daily operations of the commercial HVAC and plumbing service department. This individual will oversee technicians, scheduling, customer satisfaction, profitability, quoting, inventory, and operational performance while ensuring our customers receive industry-leading service.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader who understands commercial mechanical systems, can motivate technicians, improve efficiencies, and help grow the service business.
Responsibilities
Operations

Manage the daily operations of the HVAC and Plumbing Service Department.

Coordinate technician scheduling with dispatch.

Monitor technician productivity, utilization, and efficiency.

Manage after-hours service rotation and emergency response.
-
Assist technicians with complex troubleshooting and technical support.

Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
Customer Service

Maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
-
Follow up on completed work to ensure customer satisfaction.
-
Resolve escalated customer concerns and service issues.
-
Participate in customer meetings and account reviews.
-
Assist with developing long-term preventive maintenance relationships.
Financial Management
-
Review work orders for accuracy and completeness.
-
Quote repair work and service projects.
-
Monitor labor hours and material costs.
-
Maintain department profitability.
-
Track KPIs including gross margin, billable efficiency, callbacks, and revenue.

Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting.
Team Leadership

Recruit, interview, and hire technicians.
-
Coach and mentor field personnel.
-
Conduct performance reviews.
-
Develop technician training plans and career paths.
-
Maintain accountability throughout the department.
Fleet, Inventory & Equipment

Manage truck stock and inventory levels.
-
Oversee company tools and equipment.
-
Monitor fleet condition, maintenance, and cleanliness.

Coordinate equipment purchases and replacements.
Safety & Compliance
-
Promote a strong safety culture.

Ensure OSHA compliance.
-
Verify technicians maintain required certifications and licenses.

Conduct safety meetings and field audits.
Qualifications
-
5+ years of commercial HVAC and/or plumbing service experience.
-
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
-
Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems.
-
Ability to read mechanical drawings and specifications.
-
Experience estimating and quoting service repairs.
-
Strong organizational and communication skills.
-
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and service management software.

Valid driver's license.
