Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Unarmed Security Guard to uphold safety and security across our premises. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring access points, conducting patrols, and ensuring a secure environment for staff, visitors, and property. Your proactive approach and keen observation skills will help prevent incidents and respond effectively to emergencies. Duties
- Monitor and control access points using security systems such as access control systems and CCTV surveillance to verify authorized entry.
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises, including indoor and outdoor areas, to identify potential security risks or safety hazards.
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, or emergencies by following established emergency response procedures.
- Write detailed incident reports documenting any suspicious activity, safety concerns, or security breaches for review and record-keeping.
- Perform background checks on visitors or contractors as needed to ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Assist with conflict de-escalation and conflict management to maintain a peaceful environment.
- Support emergency response efforts by providing first aid, CPR, AED operation, or other first aid procedures when necessary.
Skills
- Strong surveillance skills with experience operating CCTV systems for continuous monitoring.
- Background in military service or law enforcement is highly desirable for understanding security protocols and emergency procedures.
- Knowledge of physical security measures including patrolling, manual handling, heavy lifting as needed.
- Incident report writing skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform background checks and verify identities efficiently.
- Familiarity with access control systems and CCTV technology for effective monitoring.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with conflict de-escalation techniques to handle sensitive situations professionally.
- Certification in first aid, CPR, AED operation, and Taser use is preferred but not mandatory; training can be provided if needed.
- Understanding of compliance with security regulations and emergency response procedures to ensure safety at all times.
Minimum Standards and Licensing Requirements
- Shall hold a current Texas noncommissioned security officer license, and have completed the DPS-required Level II training course and test.
- At least eighteen years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of Contractor and legally required criminal-history, identity, and eligibility screening.
- Successful pre-employment drug screening and continued compliance with the Contractor's drug-free workplace program.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor-vehicle record.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform access control, emergency communication, and accurate reporting. Bilingual capability is desirable.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb steps, work outdoors, operate gates, and patrol in heat, cold, wind, dust, rain, and other West Texas conditions, with reasonable accommodation as required by law.
- Security officers should have at least one year of relevant security, military, corrections, public-safety, industrial, construction, hospitality, or access-control experience.
- Shift Supervisors should have at least two years of relevant experience, including one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
